When Should I See a Physiotherapist?

The role of a physiotherapist is to provide treatment care to their patients in mobility issues, injuries, and degenerative conditions. Getting professional help is important to your rehabilitation process in getting back to health.

Some common areas in which people typically seek the help of a physiotherapist:

Workplace Injury

If you have been involved in a workplace injury, you should call a physiotherapist right away to book an appointment. There are physiotherapy clinics, like Acu-Pro Phyiostherapy, that are part of the WorkSafeBC Provider Network. This is a list of clinical providers throughout the province that provide quality rehabilitation and health care to B.C.’s injured workers.

Motor Vehicle Related Accident

If you were involved in a motor vehicle accident and have a referral from your family physician, call a physiotherapy clinic right away to book an  appointment. ICBC will generally cover between 12-20 visits initially. The sooner you begin treatment, the better your recovery.

Strenuous Activity or Sports Injury

If you have sustained an injury while doing an activity of daily living or while playing sport, or if you have pain that has not eased within one week or seems to be getting worse instead of improving, please see a physiotherapist for an assessment.
