Exercise Rehabilitation

Exercise rehabilitation helps to strengthen and stabilize injured areas promoting recovery.

  • Resistance exercises strengthen the muscles surrounding the injured area
  • Cardio-vascular exercises strengthen the heart and lungs and improve overall circulation  and  range of motion
  • Core stabilization exercises stabilize the spine
  • Scapular stabilization exercises stabilize the shoulder girdles

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy is hands-on manual mobilization of soft tissues, joints and nerves. Various techniques include joint mobilization, massage therapy, sustained stretches, and muscle energy techniques.

They are designed to:
  • Regain length in soft tissues
  • Normalize muscle tone
  • Restore joint range of motion and mobility
  • Restore movement of neural tissue
  • Break down scar tissue
  • Increase circulation
  • Promote healing

Electro-Therapy and Other Modalities

Electro-Therapy and Other Modalities is the use of electrical stimulation or ultrasound to increase circulation and decrease inflammation, swelling, and pain.

Examples include:
  • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (T.E.N.S)
  • Interferential Current (IFC)
  • Muscle Stimulation
  • Ultrasound
  • The use of Moist Heat (hot packs) and Cryotherapy (ice packs) are also used post injury.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the method of inserting acupuncture needles into acupuncture points for decreasing pain and inflammation. Western research has proven that acupuncture causes the body to release endorphins, which are our natural painkillers.

Intra-Muscular Stimulation

Intra-Muscular Stimulation, also known as dry needling, is the technique whereby an acupuncture needle is used to release tight knots in muscles  to decrease the local or referred pain caused by these knots.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Rehabilitation uses a series of treatment methods or exercises that helps with vertigo (feeling of spinning when you are actually stationary) or dizziness.

Custom-Made Orthotics

Custom made orthotics help to correct lower limb biomechanics and the way that the feet strike the ground to help relieve foot, ankle, hip, knee or back pain.
